Welcome to Oak Grove! Oak Grove Lutheran School’s high school program is located at its north campus at 124 North Terrace in Fargo. The school’s small, intimate 5.35 acre north campus rests amidst a beautiful park setting along the Red River in Fargo, North Dakota. The campus consists of five buildings, including the new Scheels Center for the Performing Arts.
Oak Grove Lutheran School provides a vibrant and thriving academic experience for students, where Christian values are added to the classroom. Small class sizes, chapel services, service opportunities, and numerous co-curricular activities allow for students to grow in faith and body, while striving to reach their full academic potential.
At Oak Grove, class sizes are limited to ensure a quality classroom experience and individual attention – no one is ever lost in the crowd. Our caring, committed and experienced staff encourages students to work hard for academic success. The average classroom consists of 17 students (K-12) and Oak Grove’s overall student-to-teacher ratio is 12:1. Oak Grove’s graduating class sizes are typically between 50-60 students, creating the small school feel in the thriving Fargo community.
Oak Grove has a fully-accredited, college preparatory academic program that has maintained NCA-CASI accreditation with high standards for excellence since 1926. Oak Grove students consistently score higher than national and state averages in achievement tests and more than 96% of graduates pursue degrees in higher education. The high school academic program includes Advanced Placement (AP) classes and dual-credit opportunities with Concordia College. The school also offers distant learning opportunities through on-line courses with Lutheran High School of Orange County, California, as well as access to the Skills & Technology Consortium.
The school is proud to say that 100% of its class of 2008 planned to pursue higher education. The class of 49 students garnered more than $683,000 in college and university scholarships. We can boast that 100% of the class participated in community service, 93% participated in extracurricular activities, and 39% of the class are National Honor Society members.
Christian ministry is central to Oak Grove Lutheran School’s mission and is the core of the school. The school integrates faith and values into the learning experience, providing a strong foundation for life. Oak Grove has an active Campus Ministry program, where students can grow in their faith and deepen their relationship with God. The entire north campus community gathers daily for chapel services in which faculty, staff, students and community members share their faith and spread the news of the Gospel. The Oak Grove Student Peer Ministers are an integral part of planning for Campus Ministry events and the Oak Grove Worship Band also plays a significant role in praise and worship. All students take Christian Studies courses that are designed for personal growth in each student’s faith journey.
The Oak Grove community puts its faith into action by showing concern for those around us. Each year students, faculty and staff devote a great deal of time to service. Students put their faith to work in many ways, including mission trips, community service, supporting local projects and charities, and giving back to the school. Oak Grove is committed to offering students cutting-edge technology to make the transition to higher education or the world of work seamless and easy.
In the spring of 2007, the Board of Regents approved the Tablet PC Initiative.
The goal of the initiative is to enable learning through technology tools, creating high order thinking skills and a lateral move to higher education.
To do so, all Oak Grove students in grade nine through 12 receive a Gateway M285 tablet computer with Windows Vista® for integrated classroom and home use.
Students return their tablets to the school at the end of the year or have an option to purchase them for personal use after graduation.
Additional hardware and software has also been purchased to support the middle and elementary school needs within the technology initiative.
