Wanting more information? Check out the following frequently asked questions about Oak Grove’s Ellig Center for Health & Wellness:
Who can use the Ellig Center?
The Ellig Center is open to the whole Oak Grove Community, including students, faculty, parents, families, alumni, donors and friends of Oak Grove.
Is there a charge to use the Ellig Center?
Memberships to the Ellig Center cost $20/month for non-students. However, the Ellig Center is certified to participate in the Blue Cross Blue Shield reimbursement program, along with several other health care providers. If an individual’s plan does qualify, there will not be any out of pocket expense to the member for their membership. In addition, if an individual’s health insurance plan does not provide reimbursement for the monthly fee, they can help staff the facility in exchange for their membership.
What are the hours of operation?
The Ellig Center is staffed from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, except Wednesday nights in which the Center will close at 6:00 p.m. for church activities. Saturday’s hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday’s are from Noon to 9:00 p.m. We are in need of volunteers who would like to work one three-hour shift per month to help us in meeting these hours.
Can I use my Work Study hours as a supervisor in the Ellig Center?
Yes, family Work Study hours may be used in helping staff the Ellig Center. Please contact Mr. Whartnaby if interested.
I want to help, but feel I am not qualified. Will you provide training?
Oak Grove provides a comprehensive training/orientation on the equipment, as well as CPR and the use of the AED machine. Upon completion of your training, you should feel comfortable in staffing the center.
Will there be someone to help me set up a personal fitness program?
Yes. Please make an appointment with Mr. Whartnaby to discuss your personal fitness needs. He can set up a program to help you meet your personal fitness goals. There is no charge for this service. If you desire a personal trainer to meet with you during each work out, we have certified personal trainers who are willing to do so. In this case, their fees would apply. Members may also form small groups to work with a personal trainer.
Will you be offering other programs or classes?
Yes. Oak Grove offers additional programs and classes such as Aerobics, Yoga, etc.
