Oak Grove News

I am reaching out to inform you of the upcoming Oak Grove Blood Drive.  This blood drive is an annual event that Oak Grove takes on in partnership with United Blood Services (UBS) to save the lives of those in need of blood products.  With the recent hurricanes in the Gulf Coast and the mass shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada, blood transfusions are needed more than ever, and you can help.  The Oak Grove Student Council is asking you to join us on Monday October 30 to donate blood in order to help us achieve our goal of 23 donors.  The blood drive will run from 8am to 12 noon in the Scheels Center for the Performing Arts at Oak Grove's north campus.
It is required that all donors sign up ahead of time so UBS is able to prepare for the amount of donors who plan on attending. Anyone interested in donating blood to help us reach our target number of 23 donors can sign up online by following the link, https://www.bloodhero.com/index.cfm?group=op&expand=719694&zc=58102. Sign up times are available every 15 minutes from 8-12 and it takes about 45 minutes to donate blood from start to finish, so please plan for adequate time to donate if you choose to do so.  If there are any difficulties with the sign up process, please do not hesitate to reach out to Katie Oster at katie.oster@oakgrovelutheran.com or myself and dasunderland@oakgrovelutheran.com.
Those who are under 18 are still able and are encouraged to donate!  Donors under the age of 18 are required to fill out a minor consent form to receive permission from their parents to give blood.  These forms can be found in the north campus office or online at the following link, http://www.unitedbloodservices.org/pdf/BS319.pdf.
All who sign up to give blood will be given a text reminder the day before the blood drive to ensure that they are still available.  If you are interested in donating, please sign up right away to make sure you are able to get the time frame that works best for you.  Once the time frames fill up, a list of "alternates" will be established to make sure we are able to reach the goal of 23 donors.  This is a huge event that we need your help to pull off, and I strongly encourage you to consider giving to a cause that can literally be a life saver for so many people!
