Induction Ceremony, Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016

Membership in the Hall of Fame is comprised of outstanding alumni, teachers, administrators and coaches who have made significant contributions to Oak Grove Lutheran School. Competition for election to the Oak Grove Hall of Fame reflects a very high standard. Those wishing to nominate individuals for induction should recognize the elite nature of this group.

Purpose of Award

The Hall of Fame will recognize those individuals who best exemplify the spirit, integrity and philosophy of Oak Grove Lutheran School. Alumni, faculty, staff, coaches and teams who have made significant contributions and have brought honor to Oak Grove Lutheran School are eligible for selection to the school’s Hall of Fame. We believe it is good and right to reaffirm Oak Grove’s mission and Christian philosophy through the recognition of these individuals.

Oak Grove is pleased to announce its 2016 class of Hall of Fame recipients.

Brian Berg
class of 1986

Brian was active in a wide variety of activities while attending Oak Grove. He played trumpet in the Oak Grove Band for four years and was a tenor in the Concert Choir for three years under the direction of his father, Arvid Berg. In 1986, he was involved in 11 solos and ensembles at the Regional and State Music Contest and received Star (superior) ratings in all 11 performances.
 
Following graduation in the spring of 1986, Brian entered the North Dakota National Guard, serving as a trumpet section leader in both the Jazz and Concert Bands as well as other ensembles. He served 20 years in the NDANG retiring in 2006 as a Staff Sergeant. In 1991, Brian graduated with a Bachelor or Architecture degree from North Dakota State University.

After graduating from NDSU, Brian began his architectural career with the firm that eventually became Mutchler Bartram Architects. In 2001, Brian left MBA to start a new architectural firm, Zerr Berg Architects, where he continues to practice today. Brian and his wife Marea, class of 1986 live in Fargo with their three children, Tyler, class of 2013, Justin, class of 2017 and Kara, class of 2020 and continue to be active in the Oak Grove Community.

Lindsey Leitner 
Class of 2001

Lindsey Leitner saw success in academics, athletics, music and leadership. She was a member of the Chapel and Concert Choirs as well as the National Honor Society. Lindsey was also crowned Homecoming Queen in 2000 and was the Valedictorian for the class of 2001.


Lindsey was an accomplished volleyball and basketball player. She played varsity volleyball for five years, was team captain for two seasons, and amassed numerous recognitions during her career including Most Valuable player, Top Defensive and Offensive player, Top Server and Most Dedicated player.

After high school, Lindsey attended college at Colorado State University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She earned her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Mars Hill and is currently working toward her Ph.D. in Counseling Education and Supervision at NDSU. Lindsey credits her coaches and teachers for being instrumental in forming what she believes to be a call to work with kids.

Tracey Martin
Class of 1987

Tracy was very active in clubs while a student at Oak Grove. Including, Pep Club, Letterman’s Club, Key Club, and Choral Club. She was class Vice President her freshman year and was a member of the student council her sophomore and junior years.

Tracy was a three sport athlete and played varsity basketball her sophomore, junior and senior years. She was named All Conference three years in a row and received such honors as Top Rebounder, Most Dedicated Player and Most Valuable Player. She was named to All State Team her Senior year.

Tracy played Volleyball all four years of High School. In track, Tracy qualified for state both her junior and senior year and was named Most Valuable Player. She was the recipient of the Quanbeck Award. Tracy was named Homecoming queen in the fall of 86. Tracy currently is 3rd in single season scoring ’86, 3rd in single season field goal %, 9 in single season field goals made in basketball.

Selection Criteria for the Induction of Alumni
  1. The inductee must be a graduate of Oak Grove Lutheran School.
  2. There must be a lapse of ten years since the graduation date of the alumna or alumnus. (The Hall of Fame Selection Committee has the authority to give earlier consideration in unusual, outstanding cases.)
  3. The inductee must reflect the mission of Oak Grove Lutheran School, exhibiting Christian values, ethical behavior and good character.
  4. The inductee’s achievements and endeavors while a student at Oak Grove.
  5. The inductee’s outstanding achievements and service in his or her vocation, church and community after graduating from Oak Grove.
  6. Alumni serving on the Hall of Fame Selection Committee must exclude themselves from discussion of their own or a family member’s possible induction.
Selection Criteria for the Induction of Faculty, Administrators and Coaches
  1. Inductees must have completed their tenure at Oak Grove. (The Hall of Fame Selection Committee may give earlier consideration in unusual, outstanding circumstances.)
  2. Inductees must reflect the mission of Oak Grove Lutheran School, exhibiting Christian values, ethical behavior and good character.
  3. Inductee’s dedication and concern for the intellectual, spiritual, physical and social development of students.
  4. Inductee’s dedication to and promotion of Oak Grove Lutheran School.
  5. Inductee’s outstanding achievements and service in his or her vocation, church, and community during and after completing his or her tenure at Oak Grove Lutheran School.
