The goal of the library is to provide a learning, reading, and quiet study environment for students which includes access to computers for those same uses.
The library is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. during the school day; it is closed during chapel and high school lunch.
Food and beverages are prohibited in the library.
Students are allowed to check books and audio tapes out for a period of three weeks and renewed for another two weeks. Students who have overdue books are reminded by the English / language arts teachers before the end of a grading period if they have overdue materials. Students will not be allowed to take final/semester tests until the overdue materials have been returned or until reimbursement has been made to the school for the lost materials. Students are responsible for all materials checked out in their names. All materials should be returned to the book drop at the circulation desk or to the librarian in person.
Students, seeking materials our school library does not own, may submit a request to the librarian who will try to locate the materials through interlibrary loan (ILL) from Odin, a network of college, university and school libraries. Inquire at the circulation desk for these materials.
Reserved materials are kept at the main desk and may be checked out for one class period or overnight, and must be returned the following morning before second period. Teachers will notify students when there are books on reserve for their classes or special assignments.
Reference books, CD-ROMs, videos are checked out to classroom teachers only unless special arrangements are made by the teachers for student use.
Periodicals do not circulate.
Students may use the library computers for class work if computers aren’t reserved by a teacher for classroom use.
Make up tests should be taken in study hall.
Students who are not exempt from study halls must have a signed pass from their classroom teacher for whom they have an assignment to complete in the library. Students present the passes to study hall teachers who, in turn, initial and time them for students to use the library during study hall time. All passes are initialed and timed before students return to study halls before the end of a class period.
Middle school students, who take AR tests, must have their English teacher signed form before taking the test in the library. Grade nine students’ forms are in the library.
