Campus Ministry Team
 
Matt Cordes, director of campus ministries

Matt Cordes is Oak Grove's director of campus ministries.  He teaches Christian Studies classes for grades six through 12, coordinatse chapel services, plans and leads mission trips, and develops and coordinatse opportunities for Christian service at Oak Grove.  Mr. Cordes received a bachelor’s degree in theology from St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minn.  He previously was the youth minister at Peace Lutheran Church in New London, Minn. for the last 12 years.  Prior to his time at Peace Lutheran, he was a youth minister at Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck, Minn, as well as Minnewaska Assembly of God in Glenwood, Minn.  He has worked in a school system as a paraprofessional and was the head boys’ basketball coach at New London-Spicer for seven years.  Mr. Cordes is currently completing the TEEM program through Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary and Luther Seminary. 

 

 

Holly Sorensen, elementary campus ministry

Holly Sorensen provides leadership for campus ministry at the elementary school.  She also teaches a Christian Studies course at the north campus, assists in planning mission trip experiences, and develops opportunities for Christian service.  Mrs. Sorensen is a 1983 graduate of Oak Grove Lutheran School.  She received a bachelor’s degree in youth ministry and Biblical Studies from Lutheran Bible Institute in Seattle, Wash.  She has served many parishes in Washington, Minnesota and North Dakota as a director of youth and music ministry.
 
 

Student Chapel Team

The Student Chapel Team at the north campus consists of Oak Grove students who have a passion for Christ and have a desire to assist in the planning and facilitating worship at Oak Grove.  The Chapel Team members are Alex Grosz, Hannah Sorensen, Maddy Cordes, Jordyn Berger, Lexi Carlson, Ben Goehring, Brad Conant, Jeffrey Lackmann, Austin Promersberger, Hannah Kelley and Reyna Bergstrom.

Recent Ministry News
November 11-16, 22 juniors and three chaperones will be heading out to live out the mission of Oak Grove in New Orleans. Students will spending time expressing God’s love through working at the Saint Bernard Project to repair and rebuild homes and then will volunteer at Covenant House, a homeless shelter for youth.

Calling all ladies, daughters (middle and high school age) and girlfriends! Oak Grove Lutheran School is sponsoring a Women of Faith Weekend October 20-22 in St. Paul.
