Physical Blitz - Jul 12, 10

Due to a change mandated by the NDHSAA, all athletes must have a yearly physical for the 2010-2011 school year.  Each athlete will need to have a physical after June 15 to be able to participate in any athletic practice or competition.    


In order to assist families to comply with the new regulations, a Physical Blitz is scheduled for Thursday, July 15 at Orthopaedic Associates from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.  Physicals will be held on a walk-in basis only; no appointments are scheduled.  The fee is $25, CASH ONLY accepted.  Physical forms must be completed by parents prior to the physical and signed by the parent.  Please download the form below and complete pages one and two.  Pages three and four are completed by the healthcare professional.

Oak Grove Lutheran School announces the appointment of Tony Stauss as head football coach.  Coach Stauss joined the Grover football coaching staff in 2009 as an assistant coach working with quarterbacks and defensive backs.  He obtained his coaching certificate through NDSU and has assisted with many football camps in the state of North Dakota.

As we head toward the end of the school year, football may be the last thing on your minds right now.  However, I’d like to take a few minutes to discuss the upcoming 2010 football season.  For those who don’t know me, I have been one of the coaches for the 7th & 8th grade Oak Grove/Park Christian football team for the last 5 years. 

Golf Results - May 21, 10

Congratulations to the boys’ golf team on their first place finish in the Region.  The team will now move on to State Tournament.  Mike Rustvang was the 1st place medalist at the Region Tournament.  Matt Sharp and Matt Hartman won All-Region honors. 


The Girls Golf Team placed third in the Region and qualified for State Tournament as well.

The Oak Grove boys’ basketball team finished the regular season undefeated with a 24-0 record and overall with a 25-2 record.  The Grovers were the District 2 and Region 1 champions and finished sixth at the State Tournament in Minot.  This was the first time the Grovers made a State Tournament appearance since 2001.

College Diver - May 3, 10
Oak Grove Lutheran School Senior Mairin Jameson signed a letter of intent on Monday, April 19 to be a diver on the University of Idaho swimming and diving team.  The team is led by Head Coach Tom Jager; Mairin will dive for diving Coach Niko Dalman.  The Vandals of the University of Idaho are part of the Division I Western Athletic Conference.  Mairin is the first female Grover to sign with a Division I university for athletics.

Change in Athletic Physicals - May 2, 10
All athletes must have a yearly physical starting next school year. There will no longer be a Form B for off-physical years.   Each athlete will need to have a physical after June 15 for the 2010-2011 school year.  This change is mandated by the NDHSAA.

Track Meet Cancelled - Apr 13, 10

The track meet at Valley City for Tuesday, April 13 has been cancelled.

The Oak Grove girls’ varsity basketball team completed the 2009-2010 season with a 12-11 record. The Grover team advanced to the regional tournament for the first time since 2004.

State Tournament Results - Mar 22, 10
The Grovers brought home sixth place from the state tournament in Minot.  Coach Kyle Card was named Class B Coach of the Year and Sam Olson and Shayden Akason were named to the All-Tournament Team.  Way to go team! 

Oak Grove will have a Hospitality Room for friends and family during the State B Boys’ Basketball Tournament.  The Hospitality Room will be at the Vegas Motel, located at 2315 North Broadway in Minot. 

Oak Grove Lutheran School’s boys’ basketball team is headed to the state tournament in Minot, ND.   The tournament will be held March 18-20 at the Minot State University Dome.

Champs! - Mar 11, 10
Congratulations to the Grover Boys' Basketball Team!  They are the North Dakota Region I Champions and are headed to the State Tournament next weekend in Minot.  Tickets for the tournament will go on sale at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 12.  For ticket and hotel room information, please call Oak Grove at 701.373.7099.  More State Tournament information will be posted soon.  Way to go Grovers!

Oak Grove Lutheran School's boys' basketball team plays Oakes in the fourth game of the Regional Boys' Basketball Tournament on Monday, March 8.  The tournament will be played at the Civic Center in Fargo.  Oak Grove's game should begin around 7:30 p.m.  Be there to cheer on the Grovers!  Read on for the full tournament bracket.

Co-Op Sports - Feb 26, 10
Grover students interested in participating in a spring so-op sport with Shanley (baseball, girls’ soccer, girls’ tennis, and softball) are to pick up a letter in the Benson Hall office outlining interest meetings, practices, and information.

The Grover boys' basketball team will play Northern Cass in the first game of the District Tournamnet on Friday, February 26.  The game will be held at the Fargo Civic Center at 3:00 p.m.  Be sure to come out and cheer on the Grovers!  Read on for the entire tournament bracket.

Girls' Basketball Region Tournament - Feb 19, 10
Oak Grove's girls' basketball team will play North Sargent in the first game of the Region Tournament on Monday, February 22.  The game will be played at NDSCS in Wahpeton at 3:00 p.m.  Help us cheer on the Grovers to victory!

Rescheduled Game - Feb 17, 10

The Oak Grove boys’ basketball game against Sargent Central has been rescheduled for Monday, February 22 at the Darwin Gorder Gymnasium.  The JV will play at 6:15 p.m. and the Varsity will play at 7:45 p.m.

Weather Related Announcements - Feb 8, 10

Due to the weather, the 7/8 Grade Boys’ Basketball Game versus Valley City scheduled for Monday, February 8 has been cancelled.  The JV/Varsity Boys’ Basketball Game versus Sargent Central has been postponed, with the reschedule date to be determined.  The Girls’ Basketball Game at Hillcrest Lutheran Academy will be held as scheduled.


Wrestling Dual - Jan 27, 10
Oak Grove Lutheran School co-ops with Shanley to form a wrestling team.  Come out and cheer them on to victory!  The next wrestling match will be a dual against Wahpeton held at Shanley on Friday, January 29 at 7:00 p.m.

The boys' basketball game against Northern Cass has been rescheduled for February 1.  It will now be a double header with the girls.  For game time and gym locations, visit the Calendar page of our website.


Pepsi Shootout - Jan 4, 10
Oak Grove invites all Grover fans to the 19th annual boys’ basketball Pepsi Shootout.  The 2010 shootout will be held on Saturday, January 23 at the Fargo Civic Center. 

Practices/Open Gym Cancelled - Dec 26, 09
Due to the winter storm, basketball practices and open gyms are cancelled until Monday, December 28. 

Swimming and Diving Results - Nov 25, 09

Oak Grove Lutheran School co-ops with Shanley High School for a Girls’ Swim/Dive team.  The team completed its season at the state meet on November 13 and 14 in Grand Forks, with four Oak Grove students qualifying to compete – Mairin Jameson, Connor Hoff, Hannah Winge and Karna Ringham.  As a team, they placed 10th in the state. 


Oak Grove senior diver, Mairin Jameson, brought home an individual title in the 1 Meter Diving competition.  The win completes a very successful season in which she placed first in every single meet except for one.  Way to go Mairin! 


Sophmore Connor Hoff placed 5th as part of the 200 meter freestyle relay.


Grover Football - Nov 25, 09

The Grover football team ended the 2009 season with a 3-6 record.  Kaleb Anderson, Brett Harmelink and Drew Zaeske were all named to the First Team All-Region.  Austin Arneson, Jacob Fletcher, Alex Hesby and Dylan Dangerfield were named to the Second Team All-Region.  Brett Harmelink was named First Team All-State and Kaleb Anderson was named to Second Team All-State. 


At the year-end banquet, the following awards were given:

    Most Improved – Carl Steele


    Most Valuable Defensive Player – Kaleb Anderson.


    Most Valuable Offensive Player – Drew Zaeske.

Football Game - Oct 15, 09

Oak Grove’s football team plays Shanley tonight, Thursday, October 15, at 8:00 p.m. at the FargoDome.  Oak Grove’s season passes will not be honored for admission into the game; all Grover fans will have to pay the ticket price.


Don’t forget to join the Booster Club prior to the game for a Tailgating Party in the FargoDome parking lot from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.!


Cheer on the Grovers and wear pink! - Oct 15, 09

The Oak Grove versus Northern Cass volleyball game on Monday, October 19 will be a "go pink" event for cancer awareness. Pink buckets will be placed at the ticket tables for donations; proceeds will be donated to the "Women's Way" campaign for Cass County.  All fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game.


Basketball Conditioning - Oct 9, 09

Coach Bledsoe invites all girls’ basketball players, grades 6-12, to starting preparing for the upcoming basketball season.  There will be girls’ basketball weight training and conditioning on Mondays and Fridays in the Ellig Center, starting Monday, October 12.  The sessions will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. until the start of practice on November 15.  All sessions will be led by Dave Karlstrom of Cormax, with senior basketball leaders providing guidance and leadership.  For other training opportunities, please contact Coach Bledsoe at jaredlbledsoe@hotmail.com.

Homecoming Football Game - Sep 22, 09

Oak Grove’s football team will take on the Grafton Spoilers on Saturday, September 26 at Concordia College at 1:00 p.m. for the Homecoming game.  Fans of both teams are to use the south side of the complex for the game.  Parking and entrances will take place at the south gate. Grover fans are to sit on the southeast side of the bleachers; Spoiler fans are to sit on the southwest side of the bleachers.


Schedule Changes - Sep 21, 09

The December 14 girls’ basketball game in Milnor has been moved to Saturday, December 19.  The day will now be a girls’ and boys’ basketball double header at Milnor.  The games are scheduled as follows:


  12:00 p.m. Girls’ JV

  1:30 p.m. Boys’ JV

  3:00 p.m. Girls’ Varsity


  4:30 p.m. Boys’ Varsity


On Saturday, September 19, the varsity volleyball team will travel to Valley City for a tournament.  Currently there is a great deal of road construction in Valley city.  Fans are advised to take the FIRST exit into Valley City.  Click ‘read more’ below for a map that outlines the best route to take in Valley City.


Huddle Buddies - Sep 16, 09

The September 18, 2009 Grover football game against Lisbon is the Huddle Buddy Game!  All participants of the Huddle Buddy football camp should wear their Huddle Buddy t-shirt and picture button so campers and parents can get in free to the game.  Campers are to meet at the south end on the Westside of the bleachers at 6:30 p.m. with at least one parent and we will make a tunnel for the football players.  Look for the Huddle Buddy Sign.  The game will be played at the Fargo North football field.


Ellig Center Hours - Aug 19, 09

Co-Op Sports - Aug 6, 09

Oak Grove is involved in a number of co-op sports with other schools.  These types of partnerships allow students to take part in sports where numbers at Oak Grove alone would have made participation in a sport uncertain.  By entering into co-ops with other schools we assure our students the opportunity of participating in most sports. 


The co-op fee that Shanley will assess is $100.  Co-op fees will be billed to each family from Oak Grove’s Business Office.  Any questions concerning co-op sports your student would like to enter into should be addressed to the Head Coach of each sport.

Grover football camp will be taking place at Park Christian School on Monday, July 27 through July 30 from 8 a.m. - noon.  Football practice for grades 9-12 starts on August 12 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and will be held at PCS.  If you have any questions, please contact Coach Haus.


Oak Grove Lutheran School announces the appointment of Jared Bledsoe as head girls’ basketball coach.  Coach Bledsoe is the founder and CEO of The Next Level Basketball Academy in Fargo, where he personally trains fourth grade through college-age basketball players and conducts basketball camps in the area.  He has many years of collegiate and professional basketball playing experience, as well as numerous years of coaching and training experience.

Shrine Bowl - Jul 20, 09

Congratulations to 2009 Oak Grove graduates TJ Hofer and Peter Hvidston!  They both participated in the North Dakota Shrine Bowl over the weekend.  Way to go!


Football Parent Meeting - Jul 17, 09

Coach Haus is holding a mandatory Football Parent Meeting on July, 28 from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Scheels Center for the Performing Arts.  Season expectations, practice field locations, game locations and more will all be covered at the meeting.  Please contact Coach Haus with any questions.


Sports Physicals - Jul 6, 09

Attention all student-athletes!


Will you be in need of a physical for the next school year?  If you completed a Physical B Form in 2008-2009, you will need a physical in order to compete in athletics during the 2009-2010 school year.  Any physical completed after April 15 is good for the following school year.


Physicals must be completed and all paperwork turned in before a student can participate in practice.  Physcial forms needed to be completed are available online on the Publications page.

 


Physical Blitz - Jun 10, 09
