From the Business Office - Mar 16, 10

Oak Grove families recently received the 2010-2011 tuition and fee information for Oak Grove Lutheran School.  Unfortunately, there were two typographical errors on the tuition and fee schedule.  The middle and elementary school tuition listed were identified as semester costs.  They are not semester costs, but they are annual costs for tuition.  The correct tuition and fee information is currently being mailed to each family.

Each family will be receiving a separate mailing that details tuition reduction options for next year, including Merit Based Scholarship information for grades 6-12.  Please see that mailing for discount information (sibling, pastor, Concordia College, and Oak Grove staff discounts), tuition aid application information, and more.

We sincerely apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this error caused.  If you have any questions about the tuition and fees for 2010-2011 or how to set up your personal FACTS Management Co. account for next year, please feel free to contact JoLynn Schmid at 701.373.7146.

Spiritual Emphasis Week/Lutheran Schools Week

March 8-12, 2010

As a part of this year’s Spiritual Emphasis Week/Lutheran Schools Week at Oak Grove Lutheran School, we will be joined by the Christian band, Sixteen Cities from Portland, Oregon. Sixteen Cities is a five-piece, Christian Rock/Alternative band that originally led worship in their high school on Wednesday mornings. Their name is taken from Joshua 19 where the tribe of Issachar receives their inheritance, which includes “sixteen cities.” 1 Chronicles 12:32 refers to the tribe of Issachar as “men who understood the times and knew what Israel should do.”

In addition to having Sixteen Cities with our students during several daily chapel services the week of March 8-12, Oak Grove will be hosting a FREE concert on Wednesday, March 10 at 7:30 p.m. We would be honored if you would consider making this a part of your evening activities. The concert will be held in the Scheels Center for the Performing Arts on our north campus, 124 North Terrace in Fargo. Campus Ministry activities scheduled for Wednesday evenings are designed to be secondary to events held in the home congregations of Grovers. Invitations have been sent to churches as well.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m., we will be showing Fireproof (PG) as our second film of the year. Please visit www.pluggedinonline.com for more information about the movie. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the film emphasizes Biblical relationships, but especially marriage. Participants are encouraged to bring refreshments, but we are happy to provide the popcorn.

Plugged-In Online says “After Facing the Giants on the gridiron, that self-proclaimed 'small church in Georgia' is facing the fires that can flare up in marriage.” Director Alex Kendrick uses drama and romance to encourage viewers of Fireproof to “break out the survival gear right away, putting into practice some of the principles they've just seen brought to life.”
