Grover Gold TRIP program

The Grover Gold Tuition Reduction Incentive Program (T.R.I.P.) being offered by Oak Grove volunteer parents uses the services of a gift card broker organization.  These organizations purchase gift cards in large quantities at a discount from major local, regional, and national retail chains.  As a parent organization, we are able to buy these gift cards at the discount but in smaller quantities to sell at face value, thereby raising funds for families of our school.  Your ‘rebate’ ranges from 2 to 25 percent of the gift card value.  ‘Rebate’ percentages are subject to change without notice.

Participating certificate merchants are listed on the order form and additional retailers, not local in our area, can be found at www.glscrip.com.  Some of the participating retailers include:  Kohl’s, Kmart, Applebees, Arby’s, Pizza Hut, Linens-n-Things, ToysRUs, and Best Buy.

The gift cards can be used, for the most part, just like cash or check at the participating stores.  Gift cards have an expiration date varying from six months to two years.  Some stores limit the amount of change that can be returned from a gift card purchase (see individual gift cards).

Charge accounts at Kohl’s, JCPenney’s, or Sears can be paid with gift cards.  You must pay the account in person at a local store, since the gift cards are considered to be equivalent to cash, and cannot be mailed.

TeacHaiti Chili Feed
Posted: May 6, 08

On May 16, Oak Grove’s Justice League will sponsor a chili feed to raise money and awareness for TeacHaiti.  TeacHaiti is a non-profit organization supporting education scholarships in Haiti.  The organization was founded by Oak Grove graduate Miquette Denie, class of 2002.  Miquette grew up like millions of other children in Haiti, with little access to clothing, food or healthcare.  Miquette writes, "because education has given me the audacity to dream dreams I had never thought possible before, I want to do the same for these brilliant children."

The money raised at this event will go to support Oak Grove's Justice League commitment to providing annual education scholarships to Haitian children who would not otherwise be able to attend school.  The chili feed will take place in Oak Grove's Eid Center from 5:15 to 7:00 p.m., between the Middle School and High School choir concerts.  The event is a free-will offering.
