Year You Started at Oak Grove: 2017

Educational Background: Bachelor of Science in Education from VCSU; Master of Arts in Teaching: Mathematics from Minot State University

On Sunday mornings, you can usually find me…In church or napping depending on the time. I am still a church pianist for my home church (Concordia Lutheran) in Jamestown, ND.  As a part of that I play one to two Sundays a month.  I get an excuse to visit family back home as well as contributing to the church service.

What do you think are the best skills that you bring to your job? I have a passion for helping students as well as a passion for problem solving. I have participated in a number of workshops on how to teach math in different ways.  I love when students say they don’t understand something the first way I taught it because it gives me chance to do things differently.  I feel that if every student learned the same way, my job would be pretty boring.

What are you happiest doing, when you’re not working? I love music. I graduated college with a music minor which I use when performing with various groups.  I am a part of the F-M Choral artists and still take flute lessons.  You will often see me playing flute with the Oak Grove High School band.

What do you do with friends or family in your spare time? I come from a family that loves both board and card games. The typical game you would see us playing when we get together would be either Whist or Scattergories.  My favorite game to play with friends is Cribbage.
