  • Oak Grove has 700+ students in pre-school through 12th grade on two campuses. Our high school has approximately 170 students. About 15% are international.
  • We currently accept international students to our high school program: grades 9-12.

Oak Grove's high school campus is on a wooded 20,000+ square meter piece of land next to the Red River of North Dakota. Our location near downtown Fargo, but next to the wooded river gives our students close access to shops and stores while still being inspired by the natural beauty of the outdoors. Our five building campus allows students fresh air each day as they walk between classes. The beautiful oak trees on campus and in the surrounding park were the inspiration for Oak Grove's name when the school began over 100 years ago.

American Culture:

Oak Grove is located in the Fargo-Moorhead area: population 174,000. Fargo is known for being a "big city with a small town feel": it has all the major attractions of a city, but retains a close-knit and supportive community. The area is also known for its Midwestern values of kindness, generosity, honesty, and integrity. Fargo is growing! With three major universities, two with esteemed post-graduate programs, and a high employment rate, Fargo is growing as a place for immigrants and non-immigrants to be educated in America.

Host Families:

Each student stays with a host family while enrolled at Oak Grove. All host families provide a personal room, food, and transportation to their new son or daughter. Treating each student as their own child, our families help students with homework, bring them to sporting events, and encourage them to get involved and spend time with friends.

On Site Support:

Our International Coordinator and English Language Learning (ELL) Instructor assist all international students with academic and personal concerns as they adjust to life at Oak Grove. An orientation is planned for each semester to help new students adjust to school, the metro area, and life in the United States.

The role as a host family is to provide a caring and supportive environment for an international student.  The student will learn about American culture from experiences with friends, school, community, but more importantly, the student will learn the most from living with a host family.
