Oak Grove Activities
Oak Grove knows every child has different talents, that’s why we have a wide array of programs for students! Be it athletics, fine arts, or travel; our school has plenty of clubs and extracurricular activities for your child to join!
Sports Physicals: NDHSAA has altered its policy of annual sports physicals to participate in any 7-12 grade school-sanctioned athletics.
- All students in 7th grade thru 12th grade and planning on participating in athletics must have a pre-participation sports physical. (Forms available at your physician or below.) Please turn into athletic trainer, athletic director or head coach.
- All student athletes must fill out the Acknowledgment/Medical Release found below. Please turn into athletic trainer, athletic director or head coach.
Concussion Impact Testing: Students that need a new or update concussion impact baseline test will be notified by the coach, trainer or AD to schedule an appointment prior to their season starting.

Fine Arts
Chapel Choir: Grades 9-12
Director: Seth Brandl
The Chapel Choir is considered an academic class. They perform three concerts throughout the year (Homecoming Concert, the Christmas Concert and the Spring Music Festival).
Carolers: Grades 9-12
Director: Seth Brandl
Dressed in traditional, historic caroler costumes, the Carolers perform during the holiday season at a variety of locations and local events such as luncheons, churches, Bonanzaville, and West Acres Mall. They are also featured at the annual high school Christmas Concert.
Madrigal Singers: Grades 9-12
Director: Seth Brandl
The Madrigal Singers are a select ensemble of 12 singers from the auditioned Concert Choir that perform songs as a small group. They have earned many Outstanding Performances over the years for Oak Grove at the State Music Contest. They sing on tour and for some concerts throughout the year.
Concert Band: Grades 5-12
Director: John Juhl
The Concert Band meets during an academic class period. They perform two major concerts each year, the Christmas Concert and Spring Concert, and arrange smaller community performances throughout the school year. The band takes a spring tour every other year—see the Band Tour section listed under Travel Opportunities.
Concert Choir: Grades 11-12
Director: Seth Brandl
The Concert Choir is an auditioned ensemble, mostly consisting of Juniors and Seniors and occasionally Sophomores. Auditions happen both at the end of the school year and right before school starts up in August. The choir meets during an academic class period and performs four major concerts throughout the year (Homecoming Concert, Christmas Concert, Tour Home Concert, and the Spring Music Festival). Members of the Concert Choir are ambassadors of Oak Grove and perform a few times each year throughout the community (Fargo Country Club Kiwani’s Christmas Luncheon, First Lutheran Lenten Service, etc.). This choir takes an annual 8-10 day spring tour – see the Concert Choir Tour section listed under Travel Opportunities.
Grover Choir Squad & Grover Chimes: Grades 4-5
Director: Emily Wittkop
The Grover Choir Squad is an elective 4th and 5th grade choir that performs locally throughout the year and at the Elementary School concerts and programs. Grover Chimes is an elective program where students learn to play hand chimes and perform at the Elementary School concerts and programs.
Theatre Arts: Grades K-12

The Oak Grove Theatre Department boasts a robust season featuring four productions for grades K-12. The theatre offers opportunities for everyone. Students can participate in many aspects of the theatre ranging from acting, set design & construction, lighting & sound design, hair & makeup, and costume design.
Organizations & Clubs
Board Game Club: Grades 6-12
Board Game Club meets every other week after school in the music room to play a wide variety of board and card games.
Key Club: Grades 9-12
Key Club is an international student-led organization that provides members with various opportunities for volunteer service, character building, and leadership development. The group is divided into three committees that have different core focus areas: the school, the community and the environment. Meetings for Key Club are held during lunch once a month.
Philanthropy and Youth (PaY): Grades 9-12
Students spend time developing their leadership skills, learning about nonprofit organizations in the FM Community, and the importance of philanthropy. Throughout the year, students spend time researching and visiting nonprofit organizations within the community. The final project for PaY allows students the opportunity to grant $5000 to a minimum of five nonprofit organizations of their choice. Meetings for PaY are typically held during lunch 2-3 days each month.
NAHS– National Art Honors Society: Grades 9-12
NAHS’s purpose is to assist student members to attain their highest potential in all forms of art, and to raise awareness of art education throughout the school and community. Members are eligible for several awards and grant programs. Meeting times vary.
Student Council: Grades 9-12
Members of the Student Council serve as ambassadors to school administration. Throughout the year they plan a number of student activities such as dances, game nights, service projects, and much more! Student Council representatives for sophomores, juniors and seniors are elected in the spring of the previous school year along with the Student Body President. Each fall, freshman, new students and international students can run for student council. Student Council meets weekly.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA): Grades 9-12
Students meet once per month for Bible Study, community building, and special events/activities.
Yearbook: Grades 9-12
Students utilize their creativity to assemble the Oak Leaves yearbook. From taking and selecting photos, to organizing and developing each page, students have the chance to create a piece of history for Oak Grove, containing all of the events and memories of the school year. Meetings are held throughout the school year as necessary, but much of the work is done on each students’ respective time and pace.

Robotics/STEM: Grades 6-8
Robotics is a first hour elective middle school class. Students in the class can participate in Bison Best Robotics Competition

Travel Opportunities
Mission Trip Experience: Grades 9-12

High school students have the opportunity to take part in mission trip experiences during the school year and in the summer. Past experiences have included trips to Guatemala, Peru, and New Mexico where we support our partner organizations.
Concert Choir/Band Tour: Grades 9-12

Each spring, the Concert Choir embarks on an 8-10 day U.S. tour. The students, as ambassadors for Oak Grove, spread the Mission and Word of God through their music and showcase the incredible vocal arts programs at Oak Grove. The Concert Band tours every other year.
CloseUp: Grades 10-12
The CloseUp Trip to Washington DC is an experience taken in coordination with the CloseUp class. Each spring, Oak Grove students join other students from across the nation for the opportunity to dive deeper into our government and political system and see the sights of DC.
Travel Studies/English Humanities Trip: Grades 9-12
Every other summer, high school students and adults have the opportunity to travel overseas for 2-3 weeks exploring the culture and scenery of a different country. Students who plan to take the trip are required to take a course in conjunction with the travel experience. Past trips have included: Australia and New Zealand, Ireland, Scotland, and England, Italy, Greece, and Norway.
