STEM Camp Hosted by Robotics

In December, the Oak Grove Robotics Team hosted a STEM Camp at the Elementary School! Oak Grove students in grades 3-5 built gingerbread houses using the same process the robotics team follows in their competition season. Students had to design the houses on paper and had a “city inspector” sign off on their design. Next, they had to purchase building materials within their budget and start to build.

In the process of building, students learned how to build their design and how to modify designs that didn’t work. Finally, they marketed their houses by designing a poster and presenting what they learned to students and parents.

The robotics team also presented to the students about their own season. Students had the opportunity to see the team’s current robot and ask questions about it. They were even able to see the robot in this year’s game field through virtual reality!

Thank you to the Robotics team, especially advisor Ms. Westerhausen, for making this event a possibility! We love it when our elementary Grovers are able to learn from their older peers.
