John Liebert began his teaching career at Grace Lutheran School in Fargo, where he served as principal and a junior high teacher for 13 years. Eventually, he came to Oak Grove to teach and coach, where he would leave an impact on countless individuals.
Alongside Clark Tufte and Darwin Gorder, John was instrumental to starting the junior high at Oak Grove. He also has an extensive coaching legacy at Oak Grove, serving as the assistant coach for both basketball and football from 1977 to 1988. Additionally, he helped start and coached the junior high football team.
After many years in North Dakota, John returned to his birthplace of Blaine, WA, where he was well-known in the community and served as mayor.
John passed away on Sept. 13, 2024. He connected with many lives during his years as a Grover, and leaves many fond memories behind with those who knew him.
