Milan Alby was a beloved Science teacher at Oak Grove for 36 years. He inspired many students with his belief that to study science was to study God’s wondrous world in its infinite order and beauty.
Mr. Alby worked very hard to make his classes challenging and thought provoking. He treated each student with respect and dignity and enjoyed being challenged by them. When the school bell rang at the end of the day, you could often find students in his classroom challenging him and other students to intense games of chess.
Mr. Alby’s memory continues to live on as family and friends set up a scholarship in his name to be awarded to a graduating senior who plans to pursue a career in the science or engineering field. In 2013, Oak Grove dedicated the newly remodeled science classrooms as the Milan Alby Science Center, with the hope of inspiring awe and wonder in generations to come.
