Luther Bernston

Luther Berntson graduated from Oak Grove in 1949. He served in the U.S Army from 1954 – 1956 and returned to work the family farm until retiring in 1996. Luther was selected as the Jaycee Outstanding Farmer in 1964 and introduced the No Till farm cropping system, pioneering systems for soil conservation in North Dakota and Europe. Luther served as director and board chairman for Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota and also assisted farmers with modern farm technology in Belarus, Ukraine, Bulgaria and Azerbaijan. Church deacon and congregational president, Luther served on many church, community, and agricultural boards.
