Palmer and Beulah Forness

Palmer and Beulah (Olson) Forness graduated from Oak Grove in 1947 and 1949. Palmer served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and returned home to join the Fargo Fire Department. After 26 years, he retired to become director of the Fargo Youth Depot. Palmer authored books on history and poetry and volunteered countless hours to Bonanzaville in West Fargo. Beulah received her R.N. from St. John’s Hospital and became a certified midwife at the School of Midwifery in Kentucky. She worked as a nurse midwife in remote rural homes and as an Oak Grove school nurse. Proud parents of seven children, all Oak Grove graduates, the Forness farm was a home away from home for many dorm students though the years.
