Arvid Berg

Arvid was a distinguished faculty member, leading the music ministry at Oak Grove for 30 years. In a conservative estimate, Arvid directed nearly 1,000 instrumental and choral performances. Many of his choirs were featured at state, regional, and national events. Under Arvid’s direction the choir was named the North Dakota Governor’s Choir in 1979 and 1995. His Oak Grove choirs toured regionally and nationally. He served two, three-year terms on the Board of Directors of the North Dakota Music Educators Association. Arvid and his students developed a sense of pride to be part of something as special as the Oak Grove music program. Arvid served 19 years in the 188th Army Band in Fargo. During the last nine years, he was First SGT/Enlisted Band leader. He retired from the military in 1995 after 25 years of service. Arvid is married to MaryAnn, who served alongside him throughout his years at Oak Grove. They have three sons: Brian, Jeffrey and Michael who are Oak Grove graduates.
