Dan and Karol (Johnson) Hilkerbaumer graduated from Oak Grove in 1957. Dan served in the U.S. Army before embarking on a career with Lincoln Mercury for 30 years, later starting his own business. An active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles since 1961, Dan held positions at the local, state, and regional levels and was named to their state Hall of Fame. Karol worked for several businesses before joining Oak Grove as the bookkeeper for 15 years while also serving as co-chair on the Centennial committee. Karol’s love for music led her to join the Sweet Adeline’s barbershop chorus where she was elected to local and regional positions and sang for 27 years, including six international competitions.
