Living the Mission

Fred and Virginia Scheel

The legacy of Fred and Virginia Scheel cannot be summed up in a just a few simple words. Anyone who knows them will say they have a deep faith in the Lord and a strong commitment to serving others through their own blessings.
Together, Fred and Virginia traveled the world and raised three children and taught them to utilize their God-given gifts to the best of their ability. Fred, who has been described as a modern day Renaissance man, was a world class photographer who taught alongside his friend, Ansel Adams. Virginia was a social worker and was instrumental in the formative years of the Village Family Service Agency in Fargo and took pleasure in Ornithology, or the study of birds.
Fred and Virginia have been friends of Oak Grove for many years and because of that commitment the Oak Grove community enjoys many functions in the beautiful Scheels Center for Performing Arts throughout the year. They support Christian education in the FM areas and foreign lands because they believe a child’s foundation for life is laid before they reach college
